13 Unique Ways To Pay It Forward

Ah “Pay it Forward”  a great, wonderful movie that should be on anyone’s must see bucket list.  I will warn you parents, it is rated PG-13, so the dialogue may have a few choice words you do not want your children to learn.  The lead roles I believe are the best combination of actors in this movie.  There is Helen Hunt, Haley Osment and Kevin Spacey!  It is about a social studies teacher who gives an assignment to his junior high school class to think of an idea to change the world for the better.  As Christians we were called to help change the world.  I do not want to spoil the movie if you haven’t seen it (GO SEE IT).

The main mission after Christ died and rose again was to fix the world, and tell them about Jesus.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.   Luke 6:35

Here are 13 ways to “Pay it Forward”, that could possibly save souls and witness in the up most wonderful form: Love.

Drop a Dollar or Five

Dropping a dollar or five in a public space is a fun an exciting way to pay it forward.  Try to drop money in the parking lot, or at the grocery store and watch to see who finds it.   The look on their face can thrill you.  Let the fate of the new money owner be up to God.  Even if people are not super thrilled to have it, they will still think in their minds… “Wow, was I meant to find this?”

Drive Thru:

This one is very easy, and well known.  The next time you were blessed with a nice paycheck, and you are in the drive thru, pay for the car behind you.  Like the Starbucks line, or even at a fast food establishment.  Someone in that car behind you may be having an AWFUL day and need a little boost of love to get them going.  This is also not embarrassing for the people behind you because really, they have no choice and there is not a crowd around them to make them feel embarrassed.  This way, you remain anonymous and humble.  There is a deep joy when you give without boasting and your reward will be in heaven vs. praise you may receive for others.

Pharmacy Angel:

I will tell you a friend of mine once worked in a Pharmacy, she would tell me often about the elderly that would come in and ask which prescription do they need today because they could not pay for them all.  Insurance today for the elderly is not worth much.  Drop off a twenty dollar bill and have the cashier promise you to give it to the next elderly person who comes to pick up.  They will do it.  If not and they take the money selfishly let the Holy Spirit handle it.  Its still giving either way.

Charity Membership

If you are living well, and blessed financially, sign up for a charity membership.  Some offer very small charitable donations they can get from you monthly, or a one time donation.  I would do a little research on them and let the Holy Spirit lead you in the right direction.  List of Charities

Hold The Door Open

This one is a less expensive and simple option.  Holding the door open for someone can open your heart and show a stranger the kindness inside of us.  Say THANK YOU to the people who do this for you.  Have you ever opened the door for someone and they walk in like royalty without looking you in the eye or telling you “thank you”.  Paying it forward can be a simply thanks.

Shop at Charity Thrift Stores

I LOVE thrift shopping!  There are many thrift stores believe it or not that partner with charities that give to an organization. Shop local charity thrift stores and save money.  Its a two for one.  A gift for you heart and your wallet!

Reach Out on IG

When using the search option on Instagram, I found myself looking for #Christians #love to find fellow friends.  One day the Holy Spirit told me to search #Helpme #lonely #fear.  You would not believe the sad Instagram users that have a heap of negative posts.  Depression in people on social media is an issue.  Find a profile of someone that needs some uplifting and comment positive things on their pictures.  Show them that they are loved by someone, us and God.

Homeless Water

Buy a case of water bottles for your car, and keep them in the trunk.  Stock 2 or 3 in the backseat of your car and when you see a homeless person begging at a stoplight, or in the city, give a bottle to them.  I see homeless people everywhere, and it is worse in other places but we were called to be givers, no matter what the motives are of the homeless person.

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17

Driving with Jesus

Being a courteous driver is very important.  The worst sight is seeing a car with a Jesus fish sticker cutting someone off and flipping them the bird.  Examples of courteous driving would be, letting people merge, letting people out of lanes to turn into traffic, waving thank you after others have let you in, or giving someone your parking spot.  As I would say “Drive with Jesus in the passenger seat.”

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 2 Peter 1:5-7

Donate Blood or Items From Home

Donate blood, you can save a life.  I know it may seem like work to take things from your home and driving to drop them off.  Now they have pick up services like Salvation Army!

Run For Charities

If you like to stay active, run for a cause. Not a runner? There are walk charities as well.  Here is a few Run Charities.

Compliment Someone

Doing this to complete strangers has the best effect.  We should only do this out of love, not flattery for something in return.

Hang with The Old Folks

I worked at a retirement community for MANY years, best years of my life.  You can learn so much from them.  There are plenty of communities that you can volunteer at to hangout, or even put on events for them.  During this time of their lives some are lonely and have no family and just need a friend.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.   Luke 6:35

With Love,

Her Heart
