Is there anyone in your life you would die for? Some would say yes, with a mental image of a gunshot to the heart, quick and easy right? What about being tortured for? In the midst of the Good Friday posts and quotes I wanted to Blog a little about the reason for this day.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have ETERNAL life.”
I am on Instagram this morning and I see so many Good Friday posts! It makes me truly happy to see all of the online community recognizing the day that changed the world forever, along with the birth of Jesus. The crucifixion was a gateway for sinners to spend eternity with God. We are born sinners, and our nature is to sin and we live in a world of sin. In the Old Testament, God’s people would have to sacrifice a lamb for God to forgive their sins. God is a wise and powerful God so he knew that this would not be easy for people to sacrifice a lamb every time we had an impure thought or sinned in any other way. He knows the future and where the world was going to be at in this year , so he made a way.
Jesus was the perfect lamb for us all, he suffered a brutal death, a punishment for the entire world for our sins. This is why we remember this day, and the day he was risen which is known to us as Easter, no there was no actually bunny. It was about the Lamb of God. All we have to do is accept Jesus into our hearts and repent for our sins, and repent means to turn away from. Once you accept Christ into your heart he begins to do a work in you, you are a new creature. Things you once did will be disinteresting or you feel that little voice saying “Maybe not, this feels wrong.” That is conviction which is a tool the Holy Spirit uses to help you bear fruits of the spirit and to keep you from falling under sin. Sin has a way of leading you to darkness, and there is no happiness there. Believe me. Once you accept him into your heart your life changes for the good.
